At The OT Clinic, we run groups throughout the year that work on targeting specific developmental areas or life stage preparation. Groups help with social development as well as help children with making friends. The amount of children in each group ranges depending on the goals of the group as well as the needs and abilities of the children involved. Our current groups include:

  • Ready for Kindy – This groups helps prepare children for the transition into kindergarten. Specific developmental skills required of a kindergarten student are worked on and an individual plan with recommendations is provided for the classroom and home environment.
  • Handwriting group – This group works on helping each child with the foundations of handwriting including:
    • Pencil grasp
    • Posture
    • Writing legibility
    • Letter formation
    • Fine motor skills
  • Social Skills Bootcamp – This Group is designed by occupational therapists and speech pathologists and aims at improving social skill development. This group aims targets:
    • Turn taking
    • Sharing
    • Making friends
    • Problem solving
    • Working as part of a team
    • Appropriate peer interaction
    • Following rules and instructions
    • Respecting personal space
  • Sensory Savvy Stars – This group help target sensory processing difficulties within a group setting. This group aims at improving:
    • Regulations
    • Attention and concentration
    • Transition from one activity to another
    • Task completion
